The Medical Assistant provides support to the physician, physician extender, and the patient for patient care services. Collaborates with physicians, physician extenders, and all other clinical staff to optimize a positive patient experience, improve efficiency, and workflow. The Medical Assistant is an advocate on behalf of the practice and the patient with outside healthcare facilities and ancillary agencies involving the patient's care, required services, durable medical equipment, and the patient's insurance carrier.

Requirements

Medical Assistant provides support to the physician, physician extender, and the patient for patient care services.
Collaborates with physicians, physician extenders, and all other clinical staff to optimize a positive patient experience, improve efficiency, and workflow.
Advocates on behalf of the practice and the patient with outside healthcare facilities and ancillary agencies involving the patient's care, required services, durable medical equipment, and the patient's insurance carrier.
Directs patients to examination rooms during clinic days to ensure efficient patient flow.
Ensures examination rooms are cleaned and stocked between patients, and thoroughly cleaned and restocked at the end of each day.
Collects specimens, sterilizes instruments as needed, and removes staples, sutures, and external fixation devices as directed by the physician.
Assists the physician with various procedures as required.
Interviews patients, measures vital signs, weight, and height, and accurately records this information in patient charts.
Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations.
Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments.
Draws injections, administers treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.
Enters patient and office data into computer systems to maintain accurate records.
Applies and removes casts, splints, and dressings as ordered by the physician.
Prepares and fits orthopedic bracing devices and durable medical equipment (DME).
Instructs patients on caring for and managing casts, splints, dressings, and DME.
Monitors and responds to patient messages effectively.
Provides support on the clinical phone line for all patient-related clinical inquiries.
Performs other tasks as assigned to support the smooth operation of the clinic.
Participates in E-Verify to confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees, as required by federal law.
