About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides direct abortion care and related reproductive healthcare services at Philadelphia Women’s Center, which has delivered abortion and reproductive healthcare since 1972. The role supports patients seeking legal, safe, compassionate abortion care, as well as adoption services and prenatal care, in a fast-paced medical environment. Team members provide care to a diverse patient population and work collaboratively to exceed patient expectations. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are sought, and all languages are welcome; multilingual staff interpret for non-English-speaking patients and their loved ones throughout their experience.

Requirements

Proof of a high school diploma or GED, as required by Pennsylvania.
Strong communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
Strong work ethic and excellent patient care skills.
Ability to multitask and work with a diverse patient population in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to be part of a team and a desire to work in abortion and reproductive healthcare.

Nice To Haves

Experience in one or more of the listed clinical responsibilities is preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills are sought; other languages are welcome.
Electronic health record (EHR) experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Take pre-procedure vital signs and perform basic lab work.
Assist with operating room setup, procedures, and patient transport.
Assist patients in the recovery room, including taking vital signs.
Respond to patient needs with fact-based education, supportive counseling, and community resources.
Advocate for patients, their partners, and families, and provide referrals when necessary.
Run basic lab tests for iron levels and Rh.
