About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) will provide clinical care under the direction of the office Physicians and Practice Manager. This role involves documenting vital signs, allergies, medications, and reason for office visits, as well as taking medical histories. The MA will prepare patients for examinations and procedures, collect and prepare specimens, and sterilize and perform High-Level Disinfection on instruments and scopes. Responsibilities also include phone triage, managing test results and prior authorizations, and in-basket management. This position will also provide back-up coverage for Patient Support Associates and perform other delegated functions. The role requires travel to other locations for coverage and training in Urogynecology.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
  • CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
  • One year of work experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required
  • Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required
  • Previous experience working in a Women’s Health medical office (or related field) is preferred
  • Flexibility, team player & enjoy working at a fast pace

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures like Colposcopy, LEEPS, Hysteroscopy
  • Collect/prepare specimens
  • Sterilize and High-Level Disinfection instruments and scopes
  • Phone triage, test results, prior authorizations and in-basket management
  • Back-up coverage for Patient Support Associates
  • Perform other functions as delegated
  • Travel to our Chicago Lakeview office or other locations for vacation, vacancies and/or medical leave coverage
  • Be trained to cross cover Urogynecology
