Prepares and maintains exam rooms, prepares charts, obtains reports and records; assists with patient flow and ensures the overall smooth running of the clinical office. This role involves direct patient interaction in a clinic setting, performing clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, conducting EKGs, phlebotomy, and medication verification. The Medical Assistant will also prepare for office hours, assist with examinations and procedures, and may administer medications under physician or nurse practitioner orders. Communication and documentation are key, including directing patient flow, completing requisitions, routing communications, and assisting with care coordination. Maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring HIPAA and OSHA compliance, and participating in quality improvement activities are also essential functions. The working environment involves exposure to blood-borne pathogens and requires protective devices. Physical effort includes sitting, standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting.
