About The Position

Are you a multi-skilled individual that can work independently to provide quality health care to patients? Do you enjoy working collaboratively with providers and other nursing staff? If you are a Certified Medical Assistant or currently working on obtaining your Medical Assistant certification, we would love for you to apply for our Medical Assistant position in our Primary Care department!

Requirements

  • Graduation within 12 months of hire from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • BLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior medical reception and/or clinical experience and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with clerical duties such as answering phones and greeting patients.
  • Update and maintain patient files and medical records
  • Schedule appointments and manage provider schedules
  • Updates patient demographics and insurance information in scheduling program at each visit. This includes cross checking information in Passport with Practice Partner and Paragon
  • Creates charts on all new patients, which includes explaining the individual forms to the patient and obtaining a signed Consent Form
  • Collection of co-payment, co-insurance and/or visit charges and past due amounts on patient accounts; If patient is self pay, gives effective communication and information about CICP programs.
  • Input of any and all payments into PASSPORT as required by Billing Department showing amount, type of payment (i.e. cash, check, credit card)
  • Take vitals, explain treatment procedures, collect and prepare lab specimens
  • Authorize prescription refills and manage prescriptions with pharmacies
  • Sterilize medical equipment and maintain a clean working space
