About The Position

Reporting to the Clinical Leader or Practice Manager, and under the direction and supervision of providers, the Medical Assistant assists in examining and treating patients and performs basic treatments and procedures. The role may also include clerical, environmental, and organizational support for the medical office. The position is based in Concord Dermatology and is listed as full time with a four-day work week. A graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred. Applicants may also qualify through successful completion of a Licensed Nursing Assistant program or military medical training with commensurate experience. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification or Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers is required. Medical Assistants hired on or after October 1, 2018 must obtain certification or registration within their first three years of employment. No experience is required for candidates who completed an accredited Medical Assistant program. Licensed Nursing Assistants must have at least one year of healthcare experience, and trained military medics must have the equivalent of one year of related experience. The job has light material-handling demands and involves frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids. The work environment is usually moderately noisy. Requirements

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification or Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers.

Responsibilities

Answer phone calls according to guidelines and the prescribed format; identify patients’ health concerns and direct calls according to practice guidelines.
Interview patients and measure vital signs.
Update patients’ medication and allergy lists.
Record information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Prepare examination rooms, including stocking and cleaning them.
Prepare patients for physical examinations and assist providers with procedures.
Demonstrate clinical skill in practice.
Schedule patient appointments and order referrals according to practice-specific guidelines.
Inventory and order medical supplies and materials for the assigned area, remove outdated materials, and ensure proper labeling.
Use Centricity, GroupWise, and Portal software according to established protocols for documentation, responding to requests, and initiating appropriate tests and orders.
Greet patients and escort them to the examination room.
Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization.
Perform job-specific requirements and other duties as assigned.
