Medical Assistant l Orthopedic Surgery Clinic
About The Position
Emplify Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support its Orthopedic Surgery Clinic and related orthopedics, sports medicine, and podiatry services. The role helps patients recover from injuries, improve mobility, and achieve their health goals in a fast-paced clinical environment. The Medical Assistant welcomes patients, updates chart information, takes vital signs, and gains hands-on experience assisting nurses and providers with procedures. The position is based in La Crosse, with travel to Onalaska and Winona as department needs require. This is a 1.0 FTE position scheduled for 80 hours bi-weekly, Monday through Friday on day shifts between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. No weekends or holidays are required. Starting pay is $21.34 per hour, with additional pay for experience.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant, Practical Nursing, or Vocational Nurse program, or completion of education that makes the candidate eligible for NCLEX-PN; alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent and a Medical Assistant Certification.
- Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
- Obtain Medical Assistant Certification within 15 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and help set a welcoming tone for appointments.
- Provide patient care for orthopedics, sports medicine, and podiatry departments.
- Update patient information in charting systems.
- Take patient vital signs.
- Work hands-on with nurses and providers on procedures.
- Partner with providers, medical professionals, and managers to support patient care and recovery.
