Medical Assistant (Bird Road)
About The Position
A Medical Assistant carries out a range of clinical and administrative duties in an outpatient examination room under the supervision of a physician. The role is based at 11501 SW 40th Street, Miami, FL 33165. Leon Medical Centers serves more than 40,000 patients and employs over 2,500 professionals. The organization is an educational and research center and is affiliated with the Benjamin Leon School of Nursing at Miami Dade College, the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital Geriatric Fellowship program, and Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy certifications from an accredited provider.
- CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers, issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, or in another area of patient healthcare in a clinical setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Take patients’ vital signs and enter patient information into the ERM system.
- Prepare patients for necessary examinations.
- Clean and disinfect treatment spaces.
- Comply with Leon Medical Centers’ infection control policies and procedures.
