About The Position

Seeking a friendly and dependable full-time Medical Assistant for our Dermatology Practice. This role involves both primary triage/pathology responsibilities and secondary Medical Assistant duties as needed. The position requires excellent communication, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient with verbal and written communication.
  • Reliable and able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and flexibility.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Compliant with HIPAA and OSHA.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant Diploma or Certified Nursing Assistant diploma preferred.
  • At least one year of patient care experience in a medical setting preferred.
  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records) preferred.
  • EMR, iPad, computer knowledge preferred.
  • Self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Triage and Pathology responsibilities, including answering patient calls regarding triage and pathology results.
  • Checking and responding to intramail/email.
  • Processing prior authorizations for medications and procedures.
  • Processing refill requests in the EMR system and by fax.
  • Scanning appropriate documents.
  • Communicating with doctors regarding patients’ medical care.
  • Scheduling patient appointments.
  • Informing patients of pathology and lab results and scheduling appropriately.
  • Performing suture removals and wound checks.
  • Maintaining pathology logs and ensuring patient compliance with treatment.
  • Sending follow-up letters for delayed treatment or cancelled procedures.
  • Entering MIPS data.
  • Preparing for clinic day (exam rooms, iPads, laptops, LN2).
  • Creating visit notes, ascertaining chief complaint(s), review of systems, and personal history/family history/medications/allergies with patient and inputting any changes.
  • Performing various tests, setting up and assisting with biopsies/surgeries, drawing up medications, and performing injections.
  • Documenting in proper log books for biopsies and all testing done, and maintaining accuracy.
  • Completing iPledge paperwork and registering or confirming patients in iPledge.
  • Scanning and attaching all pertinent documentation.
  • Completing letter log for patients with referring physicians.
  • Cleaning and restocking exam rooms and lab station, sterilizing instruments, and washing/folding laundry.
