About The Position

Seeking a friendly, full-time Medical Assistant for a Dermatology Practice. This role involves both primary triage and pathology responsibilities, as well as secondary Medical Assistant duties when needed. The position operates in a professional medical environment and requires strong communication and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be proficient with verbal and written communication.
  • Must be reliable and able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and flexibility.
  • Must be reliable and a self-starter.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Compliant with HIPAA and OSHA.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant Diploma or Certified Nursing Assistant diploma preferred.
  • Bachelors of science or biology will be considered in substitution of experience.
  • At least one year of patient care experience in a medical setting preferred.
  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records) preferred.
  • EMR, iPad, computer knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Triage and Pathology responsibilities.
  • Answering and returning patient calls regarding triage and pathology results.
  • Checking and responding to intramail/email.
  • Printing and distributing faxed refill requests, labs, outside chart notes, prior authorizations, etc.
  • Processing prior authorizations for medications and procedures.
  • Processing refill requests in the EMR system and by fax.
  • Scanning appropriate documents when necessary.
  • Frequently communicating with doctors regarding patients’ medical care.
  • Schedule patient appointments as necessary.
  • Inform patients of pathology and lab results and schedule appropriately.
  • Suture removals and wound checks.
  • Maintaining pathology logs and ensuring patient compliance with treatment.
  • Sending follow-up letters and/or certified letters for delayed treatment or cancelled procedures.
  • Enter MIPS data.
  • Prepare for clinic day (exam rooms, iPads, laptops, LN2).
  • Create visit note, ascertain chief complaint(s), review of systems, and personal history/family history/medications/allergies with patient and input any changes.
  • Perform various tests, set up and assist with biopsies/surgeries, draw up medications, and perform injections.
  • Document in proper log books for biopsies and all testing done, and maintain accuracy.
  • Complete iPledge paperwork and register or confirm patients in iPledge.
  • Scan and attach all pertinent documentation. Communicate with patient as necessary.
  • Complete letter log for patients with referring physicians as well as indicating when a biopsy has been performed.
  • Clean and restock exam rooms and lab station, sterilize instruments, and wash/fold laundry.
