About The Position

Responsible for covering clinical offices based on operational need. Assists in the examination of patients under the direction of a Physician or Allied Health professional, and in accordance with M.A. scope of practice. Thorough knowledge of infection control and aseptic techniques. Responsible for maintaining smooth patient flow by accurate assessment of patients’ needs, thorough attention to physician orders and properly scheduling and follow-up of tests and procedures performed on patient. Act as an intermediary between physician and patients when necessary to more appropriately use the physician time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification and Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year medical group experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collection of patient data to include record keeping to ensure chart is in order.
  • Logs appropriate procedures and Billing and patient charges are kept current.
  • Tick sheets are done accurately and on time.
  • Patient instruction-injections and scheduled medications are documented accurately.
  • Preparation of Patients to include vital signs, charting, attends to the individual needs of the patient, prepare patient for minor procedures.
  • Ensure that patient has the correct consent information completed.
  • Demonstrates technical skills by following all safety policies and procedures involving patient care, i.e. injections, handling instruments, cleaning wounds, handling body fluids.
  • Practices good sterile technique involving minor surgical procedures and handling injuries, wounds,
  • Explain procedure to patient and family to gain cooperation, understanding, and to ease
  • Prepare treatment room for examination of patients; assist physician with procedures; clean examination rooms and sterilize appropriate equipment after use.
  • Administer prescribed medication orally or by injection (per policy scope of service) and document time, dosage and route on patient chart.
  • Perform electrocardiograph (EKG), pulse oximetry, inhalation treatments, and operate other equipment, as certified.
  • Complete all documentation to ensure accurate medical Assure that physician has signed chart; review physician orders to verify that all orders have been carried out.
  • Return patient charts to medical records.

  • Responsible for ensuring all expired sample medications and patient supplies are discarded upon expiration date.
