We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our growing team in a specialized support role focused on medication management services. This position works closely with our Clinical Pharmacist to help patients navigate medication access, insurance requirements, and prescription-related processes while supporting exceptional patient care.

Requirements

• Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• At least one year of experience in a medical office, pharmacy, prior authorization, referral, or insurance coordination role.
• Strong understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
• Experience working within an electronic health record system (eClinicalWorks preferred).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• Prior authorization experience.
• Experience supporting specialty medications, biologics, infusion therapies, or chronic disease management programs.
• Familiarity with Medicare, commercial insurance, and pharmacy benefit processes.
• Experience with patient assistance programs and medication affordability resources.
• Experience working with clinical pharmacists, primary care providers, or specialty care practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, submit, track, and follow up on prior authorization requests for medications, medical supplies, and specialty therapies.
• Gather and organize clinical documentation required by insurance carriers to support authorization requests.
• Monitor authorization statuses and communicate updates to providers, pharmacists, staff, and patients.
• Assist with appeals, reconsiderations, and payer correspondence related to medication approvals and denials.
• Maintain organized documentation of authorization activity within the EHR.
• Coordinate with retail pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, infusion pharmacies, and pharmaceutical representatives.
• Assist with prescription-related follow-up, refill coordination, and medication procurement processes.
• Support patient enrollment in manufacturer assistance, copay assistance, and patient support programs.
• Help identify and resolve medication access barriers, insurance coverage issues, and pharmacy-related concerns.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Review medication lists for completeness and identify discrepancies for pharmacist review.
• Assist with medication monitoring programs and population health initiatives as directed.
• Track medication-related tasks, renewals, follow-up dates, and patient outreach activities.
• Support reporting and administrative projects related to pharmacy services.
• Communicate with patients regarding authorization status updates, pharmacy coordination, and medication access requirements.
• Educate patients on administrative aspects of obtaining medications, including insurance requirements and assistance programs.
• Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Work closely with the Clinical Pharmacist, providers, care coordinators, and administrative staff to support patient care.
• Adhere to HIPAA requirements and organizational policies.
• Participate in workflow improvement initiatives designed to enhance medication access and patient experience.
