This position is part of the Medical Group Nephrology team in Evanston, IL. The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant will be responsible for a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks within a physician practice. The role involves direct patient interaction, appointment scheduling, co-payment collection, patient registration, and providing general administrative support. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required
• CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
• One year of work experience required

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required
• Medical Assistant Certification (AMT, AAMA, ARMA, CCMA, CMA, MAC, AMCA) is preferred, but not required
• Previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred
• On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience

Responsibilities

• Answer phones
• Schedule appointments
• Collect co-payments
• Complete patient registration
• Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
• Check in and check out patient
• Verify insurances
• Greet patients and escort them to exam room
• Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
• Provide front office support as needed
• Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
• Phlebotomy and injections may be required
