About The Position
The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant (MA/PSA) will work in the Cardiovascular Rapid Care Center at Highland Park Hospital. This full-time position involves providing administrative and clinical support to the physician practice, ensuring efficient patient flow and excellent patient care. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent experience, with a preference for graduates of accredited medical assisting programs. CPR certification is mandatory, and medical assistant certification is preferred. One year of work experience is required, and previous experience in a medical office is beneficial, though on-the-job training is available.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience required
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
- One year of work experience required
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program preferred
- Medical Assistant Certification (AMT, AAMA, ARMA, CCMA, CMA, MAC, AMCA) preferred
- Previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred
Responsibilities
- Answer phones
- Schedule appointments
- Collect co-payments
- Complete patient registration
- Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
- Check in and check out patients
- Verify insurances
- Greet patients and escort them to exam room
- Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
- Provide front office support as needed
- Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
- Phlebotomy and injections may be required
