Medical Assistant (MA) or LPN - Pediatrics Clinic
About The Position
Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions. The Pediatrics clinic at the 2000 E. Layton Ave, St. Francis location is located inside the broader Aurora Health Center, which houses dozens of other specialties (family medicine, OB/GYN, cardiology, urgent care, etc.), allowing coordinated care in one place. The clinic provides primary care for children from birth through adolescence (high school years). Emphasizes a family-centered care model, meaning providers work closely with parents/caregivers and tailor care to each child’s needs. This clinic provides patients with options for same day appts, virtual telehealth, extended evening hours, and urgent care/lab coverage needs making it easier for families’ to obtain healthcare services.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
- MA: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
- LPN: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
- Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
