About The Position

MaineHealth is hiring a Medical Assistant (MA) or Clinical Team Assistant (CTA) for Primary Care Internal Medicine. The Medical Assistant performs duties related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment, helping promote smooth patient flow. When carrying out clinical and other patient-care responsibilities, the MA works under the license of a physician or advanced practice practitioner. The Clinical Team Assistant performs daily patient service functions that support the clinical team in delivering patient care. When performing clinical and other patient-care responsibilities, the CTA works under a provider’s license. The MA pay range is $21.09 to $27.12 per hour. The CTA pay range is $20.27 to $24.36 per hour. Part-time compensation is prorated according to scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent. For a limited time, eligible full-time Medical Assistant hires may receive a sign-on bonus of $4,000 with 0–1 years of experience or $5,000 with 1 or more years of experience. Bonuses are prorated for part-time hires; per-diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees and former employees until more than six months after separation are ineligible. Requirements

Medical Assistant: High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Medical Assistant: Meet one of the following: graduate from an accredited vocational institution or community college Medical Assisting program with 160 hours of clinical experience; complete an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and have six months of clinical experience in a practice setting; or have one year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting. Equivalent experience may be evaluated case by case.
Medical Assistant: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification is required, subject to the stated exemption for certain MA IIs employed by MaineHealth.
Medical Assistant: Current BLS certification is required, or it must be obtained within 30 days of the start date.
Medical Assistant: For positions located in New Hampshire, a NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license, is required.
Medical Assistant: Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.
Clinical Team Assistant: Student or graduate of an accredited vocational program, community college, or university in health sciences that required clinical experience for advancement; completion of an MA program without a required clinical externship; completion of a healthcare vocational program with a patient-facing component; or equivalent relevant clinical patient-facing experience, which may be evaluated case by case.
Clinical Team Assistant: Current BLS certification is required within one month of hire.
Clinical Team Assistant: At least three months of patient-facing clinical experience.
