About The Position

Assist various orthopedic physicians under the direction of Office Manager. Provide coverage for clinical teams as needed. Perform general nursing duties, including suture/staple removal, wound care/dressing changes, drawing up and calling in medications, and application of sterile fields. Responsibilities also include the application and removal of casts and splints, locating necessary imaging and test results, and scheduling/pre-certifying MRIs, lab work, procedures, and surgeries. Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies, and ensure computers are operational. Assist with pre-op labs and scheduling surgery clearances. Provide support to other team members as needed. Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms, and obtain physician signatures on miscellaneous forms. Assist in the Call Center/Registration, including scheduling appointments, registering patients, verifying insurance, and collecting copays/deductibles. Travel locally to satellite offices as required. Maintain friendly and professional patient communication via phone, provide patient education, escort patients, make appointment/surgery reminder calls, respond to chart messages, and communicate test results under physician direction.

Requirements

  • HS/GED required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, DOC physicians and staff
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding organizational, verbal and writing skills
  • Independent, self-starting and highly motivated
  • Strong patient care and interpersonal skills
  • Proven positive, “teamwork” attitude and work history

  • Minimum one-year full time clinical experience in healthcare preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for clinic by printing out patient information as requested by physician
  • Assist with verifying pre-op labs and scheduling surgery clearances as needed
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms
  • Obtain physician signature on miscellaneous forms
  • Assist in Call Center/Registration, scheduling appointments, registering patients in system, verifying insurance and collecting copays/deductibles
  • Travel locally to satellite offices as schedule requires
  • Friendly and Professional patient communication when answering and returning patient phone calls, providing various forms of patient education and handouts, escorting patients to and from exam rooms, appointment/surgery reminder calls, responding to and chart patient messages and communicating test results to patients with direction from physician
