About The Position

MidSouth Pain Treatment Center, a PartnerCare affiliated company, is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant II to join our growing and established practice in Southaven, MS. Our practice focuses on taking care of the patient with a comprehensive plan, delivering high customer service, keeping patients safe and well-informed and reducing patients' pain as much as possible. We are committed to the betterment of our communities by providing comprehensive pain management care led by interventional pain specialists so that our patients can live their best functional lives. Our team of physicians, nurses, anesthesiologists, and staff are dedicated to ensuring that patients can improve their quality of life with pain relief that involves the use of cutting-edge technology. The Medical Assistant, under general supervision, provides appropriate care to patients as well as follows PartnerCare's service standards. You will be a part of the Clinical Care Team and will engage with our patients to develop lifelong well-being and health. The right person for this role will delight in providing a great experience to the patient and demonstrate compassion to those experiencing chronic and/or acute pain.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Two or more years of medical assisting experience required
  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), preferably ECW

  • Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistants/ Aides course
  • Cover My Meds Program Preferred
  • Previous work experience preferred
  • Current ACLS and/or CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • This role requires cross-training in both Front Desk and Medical Assistant II functions and will support patient care and clinic operations in both capacities.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, families, staff, vendors, and community members both in person and over the phone.
  • Greet and check in patients in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Collect, verify, and update patient demographic, medical, and insurance information.
  • Maintain accurate patient accounts, records, and documentation while ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Schedule new patient appointments, follow-up visits, referrals, and diagnostic testing appointments.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, including blood pressure, weight, temperature, and other required measurements.
  • Review and confirm patient medical histories and update records as needed.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens for testing.
  • Assist physicians and licensed healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Educate patients by communicating physician instructions, medication information, and procedural guidance.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, specialists, and diagnostic facilities to coordinate referrals and continuity of care.
  • Maintain and organize medical records, referral documentation, and test results to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and compliance with infection control and biohazard standards.
  • Promote a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with clinic operations, including opening and closing procedures, patient follow-up calls, quality improvement initiatives, and problem-solving activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the ordering and receipt of medical supplies, medications, linens, and office materials.
  • Ensure equipment functionality through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination of repairs as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing education, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to company policies, professional standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting team initiatives, taking ownership of new responsibilities, and contributing to practice success.
  • Foster positive working relationships with patients, coworkers, and providers.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
