About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists with patient care management and performs administrative and clinical procedures in an Ear, Nose, & Throat setting. The position provides medical care that addresses patients’ physical, mental, and emotional needs and supports physicians, mid-level practitioners, nurses, and patients while following prescribed treatment plans and established policies and procedures. The role may also require remaining on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather or disasters.

Requirements

• To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Hold one of the listed medical assistant credentials: Registered Medical Assistant (ARMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA_AAMA), Medical Assistant (NCMA_NCCT), Medical Assistant (CMAS_NAHP), Clinical Medical Assistant (CLMA_NHA), Medical Assistant (RMA_AMT), or Medical Assistant Membership (AMT).
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Perform administrative duties, including medical secretarial tasks, financial bookkeeping, and insurance tasks.
• Perform clinical duties, including aseptic procedures, taking vital signs, preparing patients for physician care, performing venipunctures and non-intravenous injections, observing and reporting patient signs or symptoms, and ensuring quality metrics are obtained and documented.
• Administer basic first aid.
• Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
• Operate office medical equipment properly.
• Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the physician.
• Administer medication as directed by the physician.
• Perform basic laboratory procedures.
• Maintain current knowledge and certification.
• Pursue professional growth and development.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support department and organizational operational needs.
• Remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters when required.
