About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Medical Assistant II to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager. The Pediatric Specialty Clinic offers comprehensive care to patients from infancy through adolescence and for certain chronic diseases into adulthood. This clinic focuses on multiple pediatric specialties including allergy/pulmonary/immunology, cardiology, genetics, neurology, renal, urology, diabetes, endocrine, gastroenterology, psychology, rheumatology, general surgery, and pain and palliative care. This unit has many state-of the art facilities including five echocardiography rooms, exercise lab, pulmonary function lab, EEG lab, two treatment rooms, and a phlebotomy lab.

Requirements

  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant or completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, or Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.
