About The Position

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient-centered Medical Assistant II (MA II) to work at our UICC Clinics. These positions will mainly support our Family Medicine Clinics or Internal Medicine Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics. Requirements

  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Previous Family Medicine experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills.
  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
  • Previous immunization experience.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

  • Staff will support our UICC Clinic patients.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.
