About The Position

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking patient-centered Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to work at their UICC Clinics. These positions will primarily support Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Clinics but may also float to other patient specialties/clinic locations, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Specialty/Outreach Clinics. For over 100 years, Iowa Healthcare has focused on patient health and wellness, providing care for various needs such as pregnancy, baby wellness, vaccinations, physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health, and on-site laboratory services. The team builds relationships with patients, monitors their care history, and delivers personalized, compassionate care. When specialty care is needed, providers connect patients with UI Health Care specialists, ensuring a seamless experience through medical record sharing. Requirements

  • Current valid driver's license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy Standards
  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit.
  • Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Previous Family Medicine experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills.
  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
  • Previous immunization experience.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic programs for patients.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel.
  • In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
