About The Position

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking patient-centered Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to work at their UICC Clinics. These positions will primarily support Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Clinics but may also float to other patient specialties/clinic locations, including Pediatrics and Specialty/Outreach Clinics. Requirements

  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit.
  • Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider.
  • Current valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Previous Family Medicine experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills.
  • Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
  • Previous immunization experience.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic programs for patients.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel.
  • In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
