About The Position

The Medical Assistant II, under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, provides direct patient care in accordance with organizational standards. Responsibilities may vary by clinic and include rooming patients, assisting providers during clinical visits, obtaining and documenting vital signs and patient histories, performing blood draws and point-of-care testing, communicating with patients regarding instructions and test results, supporting smooth patient flow, performing general laboratory work and front-office support, completing registration and scheduling activities, maintaining accurate EMR documentation, and entering computerized physician orders. This role also involves precepting Medical Assistants or MA Externs as requested by leadership. The work environment is a team-based setting with a focus on collaboration, continuity of care, and high-quality patient experiences, utilizing a relationship-based, patient-centered care model.

Requirements

  • Current Medical Assistant certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program required
  • Current Medical Assistant certification from one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare workers required
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA requirements
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
  • Understanding of insurance plans and third-party payers
  • Ability to meet clinical competency requirements per current clinical, point-of-care, and skills policies
  • Basic math proficiency and strong attention to accurate data collection and entry

Nice To Haves

  • TB validation to administer or read (or obtained within 6 months of hire, preferred)
  • Additional advanced life support certifications may be required by clinic or specialty

Responsibilities
