About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient-centered Medical Assistant II to join the Bettendorf Neurology Clinic. This role involves monitoring patient care history and delivering personalized, compassionate care while supporting additional clinics within the building, such as Family Medicine, Dermatology, Pediatrics, and Endocrinology. The position includes travel within a two-hour radius approximately once per month using a fleet vehicle with paid drive time.

Requirements

Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program.
Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, medication administration, and psychology.
Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need.

Nice To Haves

Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations.
One year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
Previous work experience utilizing customer service skills.
Certified Medical Assistant credential.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Previous Epic experience.
Previous Neurology clinic experience.
Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.

Responsibilities

Perform technical, patient care, and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
Support outreach clinic patients.
Coordinate all elements of the patient visit.
Operate electronic word/data processing and conventional office equipment.
Work under the direct supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, registered nurse, nurse manager, or other licensed designee.
