The Medical Assistant II in Urgent Care adheres to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, policies, and procedures, maintaining training and competency based on their specialty. This role involves performing patient rooming tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and various screenings. The Medical Assistant II assists providers with procedures, handles lab-related duties including venipuncture, specimen collection, and Point of Care testing (POCT), and completes CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests. They are responsible for safely administering medications and vaccines, and performing administrative tasks like medication refills, insurance authorizations, patient messaging, and scheduling. The role requires effective communication, teamwork, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked work environment. They may also assist with training and serve as a role champion or on a committee. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for providing age-specific care to patients across the life span.
