About The Position

ChristianaCare's Colorectal Surgery team is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant I for their department in Newark, DE at our Map I location. The ChristianaCare Colorectal Surgery Program is a highly specialized service featuring board‑certified surgeons who perform the most advanced colorectal procedures. Our team provides expert care for a wide range of conditions affecting the small intestine, colon, rectum, and anus, including both benign disease and complex colorectal cancers. We are nationally recognized for delivering comprehensive, patient‑centered care, combining innovative surgical techniques with coordinated, multidisciplinary treatment planning. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required
  • Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

Responsibilities

  • Greets and supports patients virtually and in person
  • Prepares patients for visits
  • Performs basic clinical tasks (e.g., testing, injections, EKGs)
  • Assists with exams
  • Maintains exam rooms and equipment
  • Manages EMR updates
  • Manages patient communications, referrals, and authorizations
  • Manages scheduling
  • Handles clerical duties
  • Troubleshoots video visits
  • Supports patient portal access
