About The Position

The Medical Assistant I performs a wide variety of activities, including direct patient care and administrative and laboratory functions. Patient care may involve patients of all ages, in person and over the phone, and tasks involving assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. All patient care is provided under the direct supervision of a physician and/or mid-level provider. The role may also include reception activities, greeting and assisting patients and visitors, and helping complete the business side of a patient visit.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is required. One or more years of Medical Assistant experience may be considered in lieu of program completion, at the department's discretion.
Medical Assistant certification or registration is required, or must be obtained within 90 days of the start date, from one of the listed credentialing organizations: AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, AAH, NAHP, AMCA, APMA, IJCAHPO, or NPS.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 60 days of hire.

One year of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
