About The Position

ChristianaCare's Outpatient Behavioral Health in Wilmington is seeking a professional, compassionate, dependable, detail-oriented Medical Assistant I with strong communication, integrity, and solid technical and clinical skills. The Outpatient Adult Psychiatry practice is a highly respected, multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing comprehensive, confidential mental and emotional health care. Our clinicians including psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, mental‑health counselors, and board‑certified psychiatrists deliver tailored evaluation and treatment services supported by the full resources of ChristianaCare. We care for patients experiencing a wide range of behavioral‑health needs, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, relationship and family challenges, life transitions, grief and loss, and other emotional or mental‑health concerns. Our integrated model ensures patients receive convenient, coordinated support from a team committed to high‑quality, compassionate care. As a Medical Assistant I, you support physicians in virtual and on-site patient care, performing essential clinical and clerical duties to ensure quality care. The Medical Assistant I will provide multi-specialty support (Autism, Child & Adolescent Outpatient and Adult) at our Wilmington location.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

  • Greets and supports patients virtually and in person.
  • Prepares patients for visits.
  • Performs basic clinical tasks (e.g., testing, injections, EKGs).
  • Assists with exams.
  • Maintains exam rooms and equipment.
  • Manages EMR updates, patient communications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.
  • Handles clerical duties.
  • Troubleshoots video visits.
  • Supports patient portal access.
