About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides quality patient care promptly and professionally, assists with patient education, and communicates patient information to and from the physician. The role includes direct, individualized, goal-directed patient care under physician supervision and other duties assigned within the scope of the position. This position is based at Baptist Medical Center South and is designated PRN, working the first shift.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Medical training through a certificate program or at least 2 years of experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting, such as a clinical laboratory, physician's office, or emergency medical services.
• Medical training may be in LPN, laboratory, radiology, medical assisting, emergency medical technician, or physician-office work.
• BLS certification is required.
• Knowledge of glucometers, PT/INR machines, wheelchairs, and thermometers.
• Knowledge of urinalysis and EKG testing.
• Organizational skills.
• Oral and written communication and computer skills.
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency by passing written and clinical tests.

Nice To Haves

• Active Medical Assistant certification or registration is preferred.
