About The Position

UW Medical Center-Montlake - Pediatrics at Roosevelt has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) position, working Monday-Friday on the Day Shift. Conveniently located in Seattle’s University District, the Pediatric Care Center at UW Medical Center – Roosevelt provides comprehensive primary and specialty care for babies, children and young people to age 21, including healthcare for LGBTQ children and youth. Services include well-child checkups, developmental screenings, care for acute illnesses, gynecologic care, school and sports evaluations, environmental health consults, guidance on behavioral and parenting concerns, hearing and vision screenings, and allergy services. Interpreter services are available for non-English speaking families.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform injections
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Submit medication prior authorizations
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Assist in transporting patients as required
