About The Position

Medical Assistants work collaboratively to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of licensed clinical professionals in a clinic or practice environment. They facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience, including preparing rooms and patients, taking vital signs, performing EKGs and point-of-care tests, drawing blood, administering injections and immunizations, and handling pharmacology and administrative duties. They may also perform or assist with in-office procedures and treatments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of an accredited or approved MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT program, or Paramedic program.
• If the applicant has not completed an MA program, externship, or internship, at least 2 years of clinical experience providing clinical support in a community-based clinic is required, along with standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills.

Nice To Haves

• Medical Assistant certification through a listed certifying agency: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC).
• New graduate or at least 1 year of previous clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up rooms and prepare patients.
• Take manual and electronic vital signs.
• Perform EKGs.

• Perform point-of-care tests.
• Perform pharmacology and administrative duties.
• Perform or assist with in-office procedures and treatments.
