About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant performs services and related activities in support of patient care, including accurate patient registration data entry and insurance verification. The role requires good judgment, effective communication with patients, families, licensed personnel, insurance companies, and third-party payers, and a professional, caring manner. The Medical Assistant supports physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care.

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care.
• Accurately enter charges on patient accounts, register patients, and update patient accounts.
• Verify insurance and record statistics.
• Assist with scheduling patient appointments and answering phones.
• Keep providers informed of changes and inform patients of their benefits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
