About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care by assisting physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care. The role includes patient registration, accurate data entry, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, answering phones, and communicating with patients and care teams. The Certified Medical Assistant is expected to use good judgment and demonstrate a professional, caring manner when communicating with patients, families, licensed personnel, insurance companies, and third-party payers.

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required.
• BLS is required.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care.
• Enter charges accurately on patient accounts, register patients, and update patient accounts.
• Verify insurance and record statistics.
• Assist with scheduling patient appointments and answer phones.
• Keep providers informed of changes and inform patients of their benefits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
