MA / Medical Assistant - Bone and Joint - Roosevelt
About The Position
UW Medical Center-Montlake - Bone and Joint at Roosevelt has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). Located in the University District, the care team at the Hand, Elbow & Shoulder Center at UW Medical Center – Roosevelt provides comprehensive orthopedic and musculoskeletal care, with the goal of helping you return to normal life activities. Our board-certified specialists have experience treating complex injuries and chronic conditions, including osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. We perform surgery on the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, and minimally invasive shoulder and elbow arthroscopy.
Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
- Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
- Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Responsibilities
- Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
- Perform injections
- Prepare and clean exam rooms
- Submit medication prior authorizations
- Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
- Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
- Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
- Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
- Assist in transporting patients as required
