About The Position

Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team in the Shelbyville Road area. In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced providers to deliver exceptional care while building meaningful relationships with patients. Whether you’re an experienced Medical Assistant or a recent graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience providing direct, hands-on patient care in a medical office, clinic, or similar healthcare setting, including duties such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, or administering injections.
  • OR Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on clinical experience.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant orientation and clinical competency assessment upon hire.
  • Basic computer skills (experience with EPIC or another electronic medical record system is a plus).
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • BAT and DOT certifications within 90 days of hire for Occupational Medicine positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Medical Assistant certification through AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical support to physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Obtain vital signs, collect patient history, and reconcile medications.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist with patient flow throughout the clinic.
  • Document patient information accurately in the EPIC electronic medical record.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Process prescription refill requests and prior authorizations.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing and specialty procedures.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as EKGs, Phlebotomy, Laboratory testing, Injections and vaccinations.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and patient-focused clinical environment.
