About The Position

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Medical Assistant (MA) for our Cardiology Institute. This role provides clinical support to physicians and mid-level providers, including giving patient instructions as directed. The Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations and completing all duties vital to business operations. This is a highly visible position that requires creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and visitors. The role also involves customer-focused service and supporting patient flow, including registration, scheduling, billing, pre-certification, medical records management, and data entry. Responsibilities include routine problem resolution, assisting with patient flow coordination, and initiating follow-up with appropriate staff. A key aspect of this role is demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in all interactions.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma/GED
No formal experience beyond education required.

Nice To Haves

Graduate of accredited medical assisting school
Six months to one-year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers.

Ensures completion of all duties vital to business operations.
Creates a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office.
Provide customer-focused service and provide support to patient flow in a unit or department to include: patient registration, patient scheduling, patient billing, pre-certification (collect insurance information; receipt of co-pays or bill payments), medical records retrieval, release, or collection, data entry.
Responsible for routine problem resolution, assistance with patient flow coordination, and initiation of follow-up with appropriate staff as needed.
Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, family members, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
