About The Position

Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant for their Cardiology practice in the St. Matthews area. This is a First Shift/Full Time position. Eligible for a $2000 Sign-On Bonus (reserved for new hires meeting eligibility criteria). The role focuses on managing patient flow for an exceptional patient experience, ensuring accurate and up-to-date medical records, and providing direct patient care under the direction of a Physician/Provider. Requirements

  • Current MA Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT
  • Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information.
  • Basic Life Support
  • RMA, CMA, Medical Assistant, LPN, Certified Medical Assistant Work Experience
  • Education

Responsibilities

  • Manages the coordination and flow of patients throughout their visit to create an exceptional patient experience.
  • Proactively checks the provider’s schedule and reviews information within the patient record to ensure that all required information is available prior to their visit.
  • Proactively obtains any missing information from the patient to ensure that medical records are accurate and up to date.
  • Captures patient’s vital signs, past medical, social and family history, medication usage and preferred pharmacy information.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements including HIPAA/OSHA compliance.
  • Responds to patient call backs and phone-in prescription refill requests.
  • Administers medication and injections, as directed by Physician/Provider.
  • Performs phlebotomy on patients, as directed by the Physician/ Provider.
  • Performs EKG’s, PFT’s spirometry, nebulizer treatments and ear irrigations, and other procedures, as required by the practice and directed by the Physician/Provider.
  • Performs in-office lab testing such as glucose testing, strep screens, pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and HgA1c as directed by the physician/provider.
  • Performs sterilization on instruments used for minor procedures/surgeries according to the CDC recommended guidelines.
  • Maintains all certifications/licensures as required by the scope of the role being performed.
