About The Position

Under direct supervision, responsible for general clinical duties such as taking vital signs, giving injections, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms at an outpatient care site. May perform some administrative duties and support the documentation of patient records as dictated by the physician or provider. Serves as a patient’s companion for medical appointments and hospital procedures. Hold a valid Texas Driver’s License.

• HS Diploma or GED
• Hold a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of EPIC software; may be required to be EPIC super user.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Responsibilities

• Calls patient to triage area to take vital signs, completes screenings and documents in EMR/chart.
• Maintains patient flow in and out of exam room, prepares patients as needed for examination to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner.
• Administers medications as ordered.
• Collects and processes laboratory specimens as ordered.
• Cleans and prepares examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
• Assists in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POCT), documents and reports clinical findings to Registered Nurse (RN) in charge and/or Provider.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
