About The Position

The Fulton County Board of Health provides a variety of services that help protect residents from health threats, increase access to health services to improve health outcomes, and provide information that assists Fulton County citizens in living healthier lives. The agency is seeking two highly qualified candidates for the position of Medical Assistant 3 within the Fulton County Board of Health in the Nursing & Clinical Services Division. This is a Ryan White Grant position.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university with two (2) years experience in a related field; or High School diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience in medical assisting; or Two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Medical Assistant 2 (HCT101) or position equivalent.
  • Requires the ability to synthesize, hypothesize, and/or theorize concerning data involving modification of existing policies, strategies, and/or methods to meet unique or unusual conditions.
  • Requires the ability to function in a managerial capacity for a division or organizational unit; includes the ability to make decisions on procedural and technical levels.
  • Requires the ability to operate and control the actions of equipment and machinery, requiring the monitoring, adjustment, regulation, and/or setting of multiple conditions.
  • Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, advisory, and/or design data and information.
  • Requires the ability to perform moderately complex algebraic and geometric operations; ability to utilize principles of basic probability and statistical inference.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or synthesis functions; deal with concrete and abstract variables; and analyze major problems that require complex planning for interrelated activities that can span one or several work units.
  • Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in critical and/or unexpected situations involving moderate risk to the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Performs administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the physician on duty.
  • Handles front office duties which include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing and coding for insurance purposes.
  • Assists in the clinic by taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination and drawing blood.
  • May serve as a lead worker.
