About The Position

Healix Infusion Therapy is seeking a full-time Medical Administrative Assistant to work alongside our nursing and team in a Rheumatology physicians practice setting in Houston, TX! The schedule is Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. As a Medical Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting patients and their caregivers during each visit to the clinic for infusion therapy treatments. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MA who thrives working in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma and some college hours in related courses, recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 2 years experience in medical office setting with front office duties
  • Prior experience with verifications and reimbursements
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations
  • Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in an office-based setting
  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment
  • Microsoft Office, EMR, and other medical software experience preferred.
  • Must have experience in a clinical/physician office setting.
  • Experience limited to nursing home or long-term care settings would not be ideal, as this is a fast-paced outpatient environment

Nice To Haves

  • Epic experience is a plus, as that is the system UT utilizes.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
  • Possess valid basic life support (BLS) OR ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients and obtaining vital signs
  • Calling patients back for appointments and follow-up
  • Assisting clinical staff as needed
  • Ordering supplies and helping maintain inventory
  • General clinic workflow support
  • Communicates with clients and fellow employees through written and verbal forms, clearly and timely
  • Interacts professionally with clients and fellow employees
  • Cooperates with team members to accomplish departmental goals
  • Accepts and incorporates changes or new ideas into daily work
  • Provides service in a responsive, timely and accurate manner to both clients and fellow employees
  • Understands and adheres to policies and procedures
  • Arrives at work as scheduled and notifies supervisors in a timely manner of any absences
  • Recognizes priorities and takes action; makes productive use of time
  • Strives to resolve problems and conflicts on his/her own initiative
  • Attempts to create new ideas or new procedures working as part of a group or individually.
  • Comply with HIPAA in using and disclosing health information.
