About The Position

For People is a team of skilled technologists improving government digital services for disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. We embed directly in government agencies to modernize software, systems, and platforms so that they better serve people. As a Medicaid Policy and Program Strategist at For People, you will be the operational owner of how we engage with, listen to, and support our state Medicaid partners. You will look at the big picture of Medicaid program operations, identify where communication gaps exist, and build the infrastructure to fix them. You will design workflows, foster relationships, and ensure that state voices directly inform our digital services work. We place a significant amount of emphasis on positive work-life balance, setting healthy expectations, and making sure our loved ones are taken care of first. That means picking a child up from school during the day or going for a mid-day walk is okay! This position is 100% remote. Our entire team is remote across the United States, from the West Coast to the East Coast. There will never be a return-to-office, as we have none! This position's published base salary range is between $80,000 and $100,000 annually, plus generous benefits (e.g., For People pays 100% of Gold-tier employee health insurance premiums) and annual company profit sharing. Position seniority will be determined by relevant experience and fit for the position.

Requirements

4+ years of working in or with Medicaid programs at the state or federal level
A natural eye for ways to build efficiency. Where others see a messy workflow, you see an opportunity to build a scalable process.
A collaborative attitude, highly diplomatic nature, and a comfort in navigating complex stakeholder dynamics
Excellent writing and speaking abilities, who values warmth, clarity, and approachability in your professional communications.
You must perform all work physically within the United States at all times.
You must be a United States citizen
Able to pass a government-performed public trust background check.

Responsibilities

Own and oversee our state Medicaid partner support channels
Build, templatize, and continuously improve how we interact with our state Medicaid partners to ensure consistency and clarity
Identify operational trends and use your sharp judgment to know exactly when an issue requires a conversation with leadership, legal counsel, or internal partners
Coordinate closely with federal partners to keep cross-agency efforts aligned and moving forward smoothly
Advocate for state Medicaid program needs by absorbing the realities of state-level administration and translate those insights back to our product and engineering teams
Act as a translator between technical teams, policy experts, and state operators, turning dense government or technical concepts into friendly, accessible, and actionable guidance
Collaborate across policy, product, and engineering to align regulatory goals with delivery realities
