About The Position

The Gray Media Training Program is a 10-week immersive experience designed to train the next generation of media professionals, including producers, reporters, weather experts, and sales executives. Participants will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced local media environment, taking ownership of real-world assignments. The program emphasizes digital content creation, collaboration with experienced professionals, and building a professional portfolio. It serves as a potential fast-track to full-time career opportunities within Gray Media's network of 117 stations.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment as a college student (Junior or Senior status preferred).
  • Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, News, Sports, or a related field.
  • A "doer" mindset with initiative and a willingness to work.
  • Digital savvy, understanding of media across various platforms.
  • Strong work ethic, bringing urgency, organization, and a "can-do" attitude.
  • Clear and confident communication skills.
  • Reliability and commitment to the full 10-week program and 25-hour weekly schedule.
  • Passion for local communities and the impact of local media.

Responsibilities

  • Own the role: Step into the shoes of a producer, MMJ, meteorologist, or media sales executive and handle real-world assignments.
  • Drive digital engagement: Create content for social media, streaming apps, and web stories.
  • Collaborate with pros: Work side-by-side with seasoned veterans.
  • Commit to the craft: Dedicate 25 hours per week for 10 weeks to mastering a specialty and building a professional-grade portfolio.
