About The Position

The Gray Media Training Program is a high-octane, 10-week immersive experience where interns don't just learn the job, they own it. This program is designed for the next generation of media powerhouses, producers, reporters, weather experts, and sales executives who are eager to dive head-first into the fast-paced world of local media. Interns will handle real-world assignments, create content for digital platforms, collaborate with seasoned professionals, and build a professional-grade portfolio. The program aims to position interns at the front of the line for full-time career opportunities within Gray Media's network.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in college (preferred Junior or Senior status).
  • Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, News, Sports, or a related field.
  • A 'doer' mindset with the ability to take initiative.
  • Digital savvy, understanding that media exists across multiple platforms.
  • Strong work ethic, organization skills, and a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Effective communication skills for storytelling, pitching ideas, and explaining information.
  • Reliability and commitment to the full 10-week program and 25-hour weekly schedule.
  • Passion for local communities and understanding the impact of local media.
  • Must have availability on Friday nights in the fall.
  • Include a link to demo reel or provide on-air work samples if available.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a valued team member in the sports department.
  • Own the role by stepping into the shoes of a producer, MMJ, meteorologist, or media sales executive and handling real-world assignments.
  • Create content that lives beyond the TV screen, including social media, streaming apps, and web stories.
  • Collaborate with seasoned veterans in the field.
  • Dedicate 25 hours per week for 10 weeks to mastering the specialty and building a professional-grade portfolio.
  • Tell stories that matter to the community or help local businesses grow through innovative media strategies.
  • Be available on Friday nights in the fall.
