About The Position

The City of Pharr is seeking a dedicated Media Specialist to manage and grow its media presence in alignment with business strategies and the direction of the city and its leadership. This position coordinates assigned projects and facilitates department movements to achieve common goals. The Media Specialist will work closely with the department director to create ideas for projects and outline the growth of various in-house products. The role involves producing, filming, editing, and posting video footage for city departments. The Media Specialist will collaborate with team members to plan, produce, and/or direct media that advances the City's mission while adhering to visual identity and branding styles and guidelines. This includes taking still photography at city events for marketing and communications applications, operating and maintaining advanced digital video/photographic equipment, and developing content across owned and earned social channels and government media channels. Content creation includes videos, photos, blog posts, tweets, status updates, informational graphics, posters, and road-side boards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in capturing video, still photography and editing it into a final product.
  • Working experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop), and Final Cut Pro software.
  • At least four years of social media use or applicable traditional media experience.
  • Broad understanding of current social media platforms.
  • Experience with leveraging social media management and analytics tools.
  • Experience in web development, HTML/CSS, online news production.
  • Experience in leading a team/group to achieve assigned tasks.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass a thorough criminal background check.
