About The Position

Vineyard City is seeking a Media Specialist to assist in the planning, promotion, support, and coordination of City communications and events. This role is crucial for ensuring successful operations, engaging residents, and fostering a positive community experience. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Media Specialist will support public events, communication initiatives, customer service, and departmental operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in administration, recreation, event coordination, marketing, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of office administration and recordkeeping.
  • Knowledge of event coordination principles and logistics.
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and analytics.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and media tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.).
  • Knowledge of professional communication and English grammar.
  • Skills in organization and time management.
  • Skills in public communication and interpersonal relations.
  • Skills in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends for meetings and events.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with staff and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination and support of City events, including Impact Fair, Bunny Hop Egg Drop, Earth Day, Bike Month, Movies in the Park, Independence Day, Patriot Day, Boo-A-Palooza, and the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
  • Provide on-site event support including setup, logistics coordination, and breakdown.
  • Assist with City communication efforts, promotional materials, and public outreach.
  • Support social media content creation, scheduling, and analytics.
  • Assist with graphic design and media projects using platforms such as Canva and Adobe Suite.
  • Serve as a point of contact for City-sponsored events.
  • Respond to inquiries, concerns, and complaints by phone, email, and in person.
  • Maintain department records, prepare reports, and support administrative functions.
  • Assist the Parks & Recreation team with program and event delivery.
  • Support the Administrative Director with daily operations, reporting, and special projects.
