About The Position

This position is for a Media Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year at Bethlehem Elementary. The role is within the Information Services and School division and reports to the Principal. It is an Exempt FLSA status position with a salary schedule aligned with teachers, working 190 days.

Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for a minimum of an S-5 (Masters) level certificate in Media.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information professionally.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  • Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and plan collaboratively for the use of information resources and needs.
  • Administer and maintain a center and program that fosters a positive learning environment.
  • Ensure effective organization and accessibility of the center and resources.
  • Select and order resources consistent with system policies and school curriculum needs.
  • Plan collaboratively with teachers to integrate literature, resources and information literacy skills into the curriculum.
  • Develop and provide instructional opportunities with information technologies for staff and students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and students in materials production.
  • Assist students and staff with production using multimedia technologies.
  • Use appropriate instructional technology and a variety of research-based instructional strategies and resources, effectively to enhance student learning.
  • Promote the effective use of information technologies in learning and teaching.
  • Maintain a media collection that is diverse in format and content to support the needs of a wide variety of students.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
