This part-time, seasonal position supports the Washington Capitals Communications Department. The intern will assist with game night staff supervision, media operations coordination, credentialing, press box management, and provide direct support to the communications team to ensure a high-quality game-day experience for media and hockey operations personnel. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about hockey seeking communications experience with a professional sports team.

Requirements

  • Organized, able to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Strong leadership skills; a great teammate who enjoys working in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-service oriented.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Flexibility to work at least 90% of Capitals home games (typical game night hours: 4-10:30 p.m.).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous public relations, communications, or journalism experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the execution of game day services including media credentialing, press box and media lounge setup and stats distribution.
  • Serve as a resource for visiting media and media relations personnel on game days.
  • Help supervise Game Night Staff, ensuring all responsibilities are completed efficiently and professionally.
  • Provide exceptional service and support to media members covering Capitals games.
  • Assist Communications staff with additional game-day responsibilities, special projects, and departmental initiatives as assigned.
