About The Position

WPP Media is seeking an experienced and driven Media Planner to join our team in Toronto, supporting the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) account. JLR is one of the automotive industry's most recognized and prestigious brands, and this account demands an equally high caliber of media expertise. This is a high-touch, high-performance account with a low tolerance for inefficiency. The successful candidate will be expected to operate with precision, speed, and strong accountability — functioning as the operational backbone of a lean, high-functioning planning team. This is not an entry-level role; it is designed for a planner who is ready to take full ownership and deliver excellence consistently.

Requirements

  • 1-2+ years of media planning experience within an agency environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency across paid media channels including Paid Search, Programmatic Display, Paid Social, Online Video, and Out-of-Home
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate performance data into clear, strategic recommendations
  • Hands-on experience with industry-standard planning and buying platforms, including but not limited to DV360, The Trade Desk, SA360, Prisma, and/or MediaOcean
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to clients or senior stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on automotive or similarly complex, performance-driven accounts
  • Familiarity with lower-funnel and lead generation media strategies
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members

Responsibilities

  • Own the Day-to-Day Planning Engine
  • Lead the development and execution of integrated media plans across all channels with minimal oversight
  • Translate strategic direction into detailed, actionable, and investment-ready plans quickly and accurately
  • Ensure all media plans are performance-oriented and directly aligned to JLR's business objectives
  • Maintain plan integrity across all revisions, stakeholder updates, and market changes
  • Operate with Speed and Precision
  • Deliver high-quality planning outputs on tight timelines without compromising accuracy or attention to detail
  • Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while upholding consistently high standards of output
  • Anticipate team and client needs, moving work forward proactively rather than reactively
  • Drive Performance and Accountability
  • Demonstrate strong command of lower-funnel strategies and lead generation tactics within the automotive category
  • Continuously optimize media plans based on data-driven insights and performance signals
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scale high-performing tactics, and eliminate underperforming investments
  • Communicate with Clarity and Structure
  • Present recommendations in a clear, logical, and concise manner to both internal stakeholders and clients
  • Transform ambiguity into structured, actionable next steps
  • Produce work products that are polished, easy to understand, and require minimal revision
  • Enable and Support the Team
  • Effectively manage up and down within the team structure: leverage the Planning Assistant for executional support while escalating critical decisions to the Planning Director as appropriate
  • Keep the planning team aligned, organized, and consistently moving forward
  • Serve as a force multiplier for the team — reducing friction and increasing overall efficiency
  • Demonstrate Professionalism and Ownership
  • Take full end-to-end ownership of all work, including identifying, communicating, and resolving errors
  • Surface risks early and arrive with proposed solutions, not solely with problems
  • Maintain the highest standard of professionalism and composure within a demanding, fast-paced client environment
