About The Position

Certified Group is seeking a Lab Technician to prepare samples for analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental samples. The role applies approved microbiological techniques and methodologies in analytical testing, follows FSNS policies and customer requirements, and helps maintain laboratory operations, quality assurance, and accurate records.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of a food testing laboratory.
Ability to travel is preferred.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are accepted.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience.
Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
Apply aseptic techniques in daily work.
Maintain media and reagents needed for daily microbiological testing.
Inventory and report expendable supplies and materials needed for testing.
Perform routine preventive maintenance through daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal.
Perform quality control monitoring, including taking incubator temperatures, inoculating control organisms, and running media controls.
Independently perform assigned processes, procedures, or techniques according to FSNS policies and procedures and customer requirements.
Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, quality assurance programs, and accurate records throughout procedures.
Perform activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner.
Share information openly and promptly.
Help manage priorities and schedules to achieve individual and team goals, with participation in the Food Safety Net Services Team encouraged.
Be responsible for personal safety and the safety of others working in the area.
Complete required training.
